Hope & A Bear™ is a comic strip created by Amal Samuel.
It is the story of how a girl named Hope who has all but given up on
dating but unexpectedly falls in love with a most unique creature: Larry the Bear. Larry is your typical lazy bear; alternating between sleeping and eating all day. He does find time to go on dates with Hope and can't believe his luck when she agrees to go out with him, he thinks he has hit the jackpot!
Despite the odds against them lasting as a couple and much to Mr.Shmamuel’s (Hope's dad) chagrin, Hope and Larry become quite smitten with each other and their relationship blossoms and blooms. Rebellious by nature, Hope tends to sneak out to see Larry at his cave and Larry tries not to be seen by Mr.Shmamuel when he goes to visit Hope at home like a hairy Romeo. Their dates are always unpredictable, yet fun adventures and they learn a lot about each other and the world around them. Hope loves that Larry
accepts her as she is and treats her like a queen and Larry is thrilled to finally find the girl of his dreams.
Inspired by Archie Comics, Calvin & Hobbes and a touch of Will & Grace, as well as Amal's real-life relationship to her husband, Hope & A Bear™ is a light-hearted comic about two individuals who find that they are more alike than they are different and are constantly learning the lesson that you should never judge a book by its cover.
